A Day Out in York

< >

York is one of England’s most stunning and historically rich cities. Known to the Romans as Eboracum, the Saxons called it Eoforwick, and the Vikings, who initially came as invaders but settled here, named it Jorvik. York’s more recent history has also left its mark, with landmarks like the iconic York Minster, medieval architecture, grand Georgian townhouses, and its impressive Victorian railway station. Today, you’ll explore this rich heritage. After breakfast, a short five-minute walk will take the group to York Minster, where you can marvel at its breathtaking Gothic design.

York is not only famous for its rich history and stunning architecture but also for its sweet and chocolate-making heritage. The Rowntree family, in particular, played a major role in shaping York’s chocolate legacy. After exploring some of the city’s beautiful landmarks, you’ll visit one of its renowned chocolate shops, where you’ll learn about the chocolate-making process and even have the chance to create your own custom chocolate bar.
