Itinerary

Day 1 Fly to Portugal with Limitless Support
Airport

Your holiday begins at your UK airport, where you’ll meet the Limitless Team and your fellow guests at the special assistance desk.

The Limitless Team will accompany you through the airport, working alongside the airport’s special assistance team, providing additional support and advocating on your behalf. We’re with you every step of the way – as you pass through security, head to the departure gate, board the aircraft, and during the flight.

As you touch down in Lisbon, you’ll feel the Iberian sun on your skin and know you've arrived. We’ll support you through the airport and onto our private accessible transfer, which will be waiting to take you to HandiOasis Portugal Guest House, just a short 45-minute drive away. After helping you check in and settle comfortably into your room, we’ll come together for our first evening meal. It’s a chance to get to know the group, relax after the journey and enjoy the excitement of your first evening on holiday.

If you would like to know more about flights, the airport experience, or airport special assistance, take a look at our FAQs.

Customers & staff in Tenerife hotel pool

Your first full day in Portugal is a chance to unwind, take it easy and enjoy that wonderfully relaxed holiday feeling.

HandiOasis Portugal features two swimming pools, both equipped with a Handi-Move Pool Lift system, so you have a comfortable and inclusive means of entering the water. The Limitless Team is always on hand to provide practical assistance and encouragement, ensuring everyone who wants to swim has a chance to do so.

Whether you need help changing, getting to the pool, entering and leaving the water, or support while swimming, we’ll work to meet your individual needs. There’s no pressure to swim either. If you prefer to relax poolside with a book or start on that tan, you’re welcome to do so. It’s a gentle, uplifting day that you can spend however you please.

Day 3 Lisbon City Tour with a Professional Guide
Customer and Limitless staff exploring the port of Lisbon, Portugal, on a cruise excursion
Lisbon, Portugal

With its iconic yellow trams, colourful streets, historic squares and bustling cafés, Lisbon is one of Europe’s most atmospheric cities.

Today’s excursion involves a fascinating tour of the Portuguese capital with a professional English-speaking guide. Making use of our accessible transport to move between parts of the city, we’ll follow an accessible route that includes the downtown Baixa district and its three magnificent squares, Praça do Comércio, Rossio and Praça dos Restauradores. We’ll then move to the riverside Belém district. Here, we can visit the Jerónimos Monastery and the Monument to the Discoveries, as well as the iconic Pastéis de Belém – home of the original pastéis de nata custard tarts.

Lisbon’s hills and traditional pavements can make some areas challenging to navigate, so this guided experience is the perfect way to explore the city. As always, the Limitless Team will accompany the group and provide support throughout the day.

Day 4 Rest, Relax and Recharge

Our Portuguese holiday is as much about rest and relaxation as it is about exploring Lisbon and the surrounding coastline. We want you to return home recharged, having had time to unwind and enjoy the sun, tranquil setting and accessible swimming pools.

With that in mind, there’s nothing booked in for today, and it is yours to enjoy at your own pace. You may wish to spend the day sunbathing at the guest house, chatting with your new friends or cooling off with a dip in the pool.

The Limitless Team can help you plan your day, so speak to your Tour Manager in advance. They can make bookings, provide accessibility information, and ensure you receive the support you need.

Day 5 A Guided Tour of Breathtaking Sintra
Monserrate Palace
Monserrate Palace

With its bold and beautiful colour palette, spectacular architecture and lush landscapes, UNESCO-designated Sintra is a fairytale, must-see destination on any Portuguese holiday.

Today, we’ll enjoy a guided tour of this romantic resort town, using our lift-equipped vehicle to move between locations and following accessible routes when on foot. The visit’s main attraction is the exotic Monserrate Palace and Gardens – a striking palatial villa regarded as a masterpiece of romantic architecture. Opulent and ornate, the palace exemplifies the elegance Sinatra is famous for.

The remainder of the itinerary will be determined by the group’s needs and interests, as there are too many notable landmarks for a single day of sightseeing. At the end of the day’s tour, we’ll head back to the hotel to rest and relax before coming together for a delicious dinner.

Day 6 Parque das Nações & Lisbon Oceanarium
Parque das Nações
Parque das Nações

Located at Lisbon’s eastern edge, on the banks of the Tagus River, Parque das Nações was developed for the 1998 World Expo and is home to some of the city’s most contemporary architecture and influential cultural institutions. Its transformation from a derelict industrial area to a futuristic waterfront brimming with public art, trendy restaurants and museums is one of Lisbon’s biggest success stories.

Today, we’ll board our accessible transport and head to the Parque das Nações for a guided tour of the riverfront’s gorgeous public spaces. As well as its broad pedestrian promenades and buzzy bars, the area is famous for its birdlife and is an excellent spot for a little birdwatching.

After exploring the riverfront’s outdoor spaces, we’ll visit the expansive Oceanário – one of Europe’s largest oceanariums. Accessible throughout, it’s home to more than 16,000 animals and a remarkable main tank, which houses more than 100 species, including sharks, barracudas, groupers and sunfish.

If time allows, we may also ride the accessible cable car for fantastic views of the city skyline, before boarding the accessible coach and heading back to the guest house.

Day 7 Rest Day, Accessible Beaches or Optional Excursions
Praia da Adraga
Praia da Adraga

With another rest day to enjoy the guest house, talk to your Tour Manager and plan your day or simply kick back, relax and take it easy.

If you want to get out of the guest house, there are several accessible beaches within easy reach of the guest house. Praia das Maçãs is a 10-minute drive, and Praia da Adraga is 20 minutes – both are equipped with amphibious chairs for access to the water. Several other accessible beaches are close by, and your Tour Manager can help you arrange a visit.

Alternatively, our accessible travel partners at the HandiOasis guest house also offer several accessible excursions that are not included in the price of your holiday. They should be organised directly with the guest house on arrival. Your Tour Manager will be more than happy to help.

Day 8 Return Home with Limitless Support
Cruise Customers in Lisbon Portugal

After breakfast, we’ll help you prepare for the journey home and make sure you and your mobility equipment are ready for departure.

Our accessible transfer will take the group back to Lisbon Airport, where the Limitless Team will accompany guests travelling on the designated group flight. We’ll work alongside the airport’s special assistance team and provide support as you make your way through the airport and board the flight home.

You may be leaving Portugal behind, but you’ll return with new experiences, friendships and memories, all of which have been shaped by your time in and around its romantic capital, Lisbon.

Flights FAQs

Are flights included in the cost of a Limitless short-haul holiday?

No, flights are not included in the cost of your Limitless short-haul holiday. However, we do provide extensive booking support, and your Limitless Personal Travel Advisor is always available to provide information and assist with any matter relating to travel and flights.

How do I book flights for Limitless holidays?

Having booked your Limitless short-haul holiday, we’ll send out flight details approximately three months before the departure date. You are then responsible for booking flights, though assistance and support are always available from your Personal Travel Advisor. You can choose to fly on a different flight to the Limitless Team and your fellow Limitless Travellers, but we will not be able to provide support at the airport or during the flight in this case. We will still arrange an accessible transfer to the hotel for you if you fly independently.

What airports do Limitless fly from and how do I get there?

For short-haul holidays, we aim to have two flight teams – one flying from a London airport and the other flying from an airport further north, typically Birmingham or Manchester. This gives Limitless Travellers greater choice and reduces travel time to and from the airport. The specific airports we use depend on destination, cost, flight availability and departure time. Where possible, we opt for a mid-day flight for your convenience.

Does Limitless liaise with the airport to organise special assistance?

Limitless Travellers are responsible for contacting and organising the special assistance team at the airport. The airport’s special assistance team will help you with check-in, security and boarding, and we recommend using their services if possible. Though the special assistance team will manage most of your airport experience, the Limitless Team will also be on hand to accompany you, provide support and advocate on your behalf.

How do the Limitless Team provide support at the airport and while flying?

The Limitless Team will usually meet you at the airport's special assistance desk, collect and handle luggage, and provide any support necessary. If required, we can schedule regular check-ins during the flight. Our team is highly experienced and regularly accompanies Limitless Travellers on international flights. As such, we're able to make sure your journey is smooth and comfortable, and you feel confident travelling. For Limitless short-haul holidays, we guarantee we'll be there to help whenever you need us.

If you opt for the One-to-One Care package, your carer will meet you at the designated airport and provide dedicated support throughout the airport, flight, transfer and holiday.

How do we transfer from the destination airport to the hotel?

We've arranged accessible transport for the drive from your destination airport to the hotel, so you don't have to worry about transfers at all. We use transfer vehicles that have been vetted to ensure accessibility and are equipped with a ramp or hydraulic lift.
