Explore six exotic ports on the cruise of a life-time, embarking on P&O's Iona from Southampton. Escorted with our Limitless Care Team
Holiday Overview
Iona is a ship in a class to herself. Run on LNG (liquified nitrogen gas) to make her not only environmentally friendly, but also quieter and smoother. Launched in 2020, whilst she is one of the larger ships, she has the facilities to entertain all including a four-screen cinema, two large theatres, several live-lounges and an atrium that hosts aerobatics and even a pianist!
Explore six exotic ports on this cruise of a life-time. The first port of Funchal is known as the city of gardens, including the fantastic Madeira Botanical Garden. The second port of Tenerife is famous for its black sand landscapes, and some of the best stargazing in Europe. The third port of Las Palmas is the Canaries largest city with a 2.5mile long beach making it a popular tourist destination.
The next port is the famous Lanzarote, famous for its volcano-clad landscapes, palm tree fringed beaches and clear blue waters.
After your cruise around the Canary Islands, there is still time for more! On the return voyage north, we stop at Cadiz, a city famous for being the oldest city in Western Europe. Having been founded by the Phoenicians as a small seasonal trading post in the 12th Century BCE, the Spanish city of Cádiz is the most ancient still-standing city in Western Europe. Your final port to experience is an overnight port in Lisbon. The unique architecture, tram's running up the many winding streets, and incredible food including a type of custard-tart only found here!

** Limitless Travel carefully pick out cruise itineraries to ensure minimal anchor ports (where a small boat or ‘tender’ transports guests to shore) Unfortunately port changes can happen due to a number of reasons while at sea. Limitless Travel will not be held accountable for any port changes.
Today your adventure begins! Home-pick up (within the first 125 miles, further distances charged at £3.25 a mile), or pick up at Southampton Airport, or free parking for the duration of the cruise included.
Welcome aboard Iona, your home for the next 14nights. Iona launched in 2020 so is full of bars, restaurants, swimming pools and entertainment areas including the Sky Dome, a laid-back indoor pool with glass domed roof.
Relax onboard! Start you perhaps with a breakfast in bed, or wander to the buffet where there is a wide range of cooked and continental options. Today is all about exploring this fantastic ship and getting familiar with the facilities - of which the Limitless care team will be available to assist you.
There is entertainment galore on board your ship, Iona. 13 entertainment venues - including West End-style shows, live music and classic cabaret. There is often live music to be found around the ship with up-beat bands playing poolside - to classical musicians in the atrium. Throughout the sea-days, the Iona's entertainment team will be running around and keeping the ship smiling!
We're cruising close to the Canary Islands now! Relax in one of the four on-board swimming pools (hoist available) including the infinity pool at the very back of the ship! There are also hot tubs, saunas, and steam rooms available to use!
Cruise visitors here will discover that the market town is easily walkable although, the further inland you explore, the steeper and narrower some of the streets become. Locally made wicker furniture, lacework and tapestries all make good buys along with the ubiquitous Madeira wine. Funchal is also the base for tours to the islands botanical gardens; the fishing village of Camara de Lobos where Churchill went to paint; Camacha, the wicker centre; the levada walks, part of an ancient irrigation system; and to Reids Hotel for traditional afternoon tea, making cruises to Madeira a must see.
Today we cruise into the vibrant port of Tenerife. Tenerife is a true slice of paradise. Explore its foodie treasures, tranquil sunsets burning with tones of pink, orange and yellow and put your underwater camera to good use. There are countless experiences to be had, yet also peaceful and idyllic with sparkling waters and powder-soft sand.
On Day Seven, we’ll arrive in Gran Canaria, the most densely populated of the Canary Islands and possibly the most naturally diverse, too. You’ll get to see a little of the island’s natural beauty as we approach, before the ship docks in the Santa Catalina cruise terminal.
Boasting terrific access to the island’s cool capital, Las Palmas, the terminal is also only 100 metres down the road from Muelle, an extremely popular local shopping complex. If you want to head into the city centre, check out Vegueta, Las Palmas’ trendy old quarter. Prefer the beach? Playa de las Canteras is also within easy reach. You’ll be able to disembark at 8 am and the ship won’t leave until 10 pm, giving you a whole day to experience charming Las Palmas.
Lanzarote is synonymous with a sometimes-alien, always-striking natural beauty. Volcanoes and lava fields define the landscape, impossibly-shaped rocks perch on improbably balanced outposts and black sand beaches compete with traditional, tropical palm-lined coast for your attention. A UNESCO Geopark, the island is a fascinating destination that enchants and enthrals all visitors to its volcanic shores.
Iona will dock in Arrecife, the island’s capital, and you’ll have the entire day to enjoy its sun-washed plazas, cool bars and atmospheric backstreets. If you’re looking for a little bit of local culture, check out the Museo Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo, which features several works from the island’s most influential artist, César Manrique.
Back onboard! After visiting five new islands, over five days, you've earnt a relaxing day at sea! Relax with a pint in Brodie's Pub, the onboard British pub - or listen to the delightful ambience in the atrium with live pianist - or make a splash in the pool! Explore the exclusive Limelight Club, a live music lounge with cocktails and music, curated by Gary Barlow!
Cádiz is an ancient port city in the Andalucia region of southwestern Spain. The home of the Spanish Navy, the port boomed in the 16th-century as a base for exploration and trade. It has more than 100 watchtowers, including the iconic Torre Tavira, which was traditionally used for spotting ships.
Some of the best views of the Portuguese capital come as your ship cruises along the Tagus River. You pass the Belem Tower and the impressive Monument to the Discoveries with its statue of Henry the Navigator before arriving at the Lisbon cruise port. With your ship docked overnight, you will have ample time to explore this fabulous city.
Limitless have organised an exclusive city tour of Lisbon for our disabled passengers - a chance to explore this vibrant and historic city.
Your second day in port! In days-gone-by, locals in Lisbon would have a cherry liqueur shot to start their day. Still sold to this day as Ginjinha, these little bars offer a window to the past and a chance to try a local tradition for yourself. Alternatively, try a famous custard tart or delicious sea-food
Your last full day onboard! Hopefully by now you've sampled all of the 15 restaurants - 8 speciality dining venues, 6 breakfast venues and Afternoon Tea. Some do carry extra charges not included in the cruise fare, but can be easily booked onboard and a great option to add variety from the main dining hall and buffet venues.
Welcome back to Blighty! The Limitless Care team will be on hand to help you disembark and get to your transfer home. Our team will ensure you have the right support and facilities, back to your home address.
