Explore Lincoln’s Hidden History

One of the UK’s best-kept holiday secrets, Lincoln boasts a wealth of world-class attractions. Completed in 1311, the city’s spectacular cathedral was the tallest building on the planet for over 200 years, only losing its title to Egypt’s Great Pyramid when its spire collapsed in a storm. Lincoln’s equally historic castle is home to a copy of the Magna Carta, while its charming Medieval streets feature a host of excellent bars and restaurants.

5-Day Accessible Itinerary

After arriving in Lincoln via our fully accessible transport, you’ll spend the evening relaxing and taking it easy. Your first full day sees the group head to the imposing Lincoln Castle and the magnificent cathedral. On Day Three, you’ll visit Mablethorpe seafront, with its accessible beach, and enjoy an excursion to a local seal sanctuary. Then it’s a day trip to Normanby Hall and Gardens, a spectacular Regency mansion with beautiful gardens.

Itinerary

Day 1 Travelling to Lincoln
Limitless Tour Manager

We’ll meet you at one of our designated UK pick-up points, help you board our accessible coach and ensure you’re comfortable for the journey. All our coaches benefit from hydraulic lift or ramp access, and wheelchairs can be safely secured in place, so there’s no need to transfer to a standard seat. Similarly, all our drivers have experience working with Limitless Travellers and understand and respect individual access needs.

On arrival, the Limitless Team will help you check in. Then, you’ll have time to relax, unwind and explore your accessible room, before enjoying a delicious meal in the hotel restaurant. Your Tour Manager will round out the evening with a little entertainment for those not quite ready to hit the hay.

Day 2 Lincoln Castle & Cathedral
Lincoln castle

From your city centre hotel, Lincoln’s main attractions are all within easy reach, so we’ll have a gentle morning and then head to Lincoln Castle. Erected nearly a millennium ago by William the Conqueror, who wanted a strong defensive line to protect his fledgling kingdom from rebellious groups in the north, the castle was also used as a prison. While not entirely accessible, considerable work has been done to improve on-site accessibility and even the original medieval wall, with its stunning views over the city, is accessible for those using mobility aids.

In the afternoon, we’ll make our way to Lincoln Cathedral, the city’s most impressive feat of architecture, to explore its hallowed nave and learn its history. Afterwards, there will be time to wander the city centre at your own leisure.

Day 3 Mablethorpe & Seal Sanctuary
Mablethorpe beach UK

A quintessential English seaside town, Mablethorpe occupies a prime spot on the Lincolnshire coast with its gorgeous stretch of sandy, Blue Flag beach. But, before we start sunbathing, we’re heading to a local seal sanctuary. There, we’ll spend the morning learning about the vital work being done to rescue and rehabilitate these magnificent creatures on England’s east coast.

Following the sea sanctuary, the accessible coach will drop the group off at Mablethorpe Promenade, where we’ll grab a classic fish and chip lunch. The afternoon can be spent however you like - there are beach wheelchairs available for those who want to relax on the beach or brave a dip in the North Sea. Alternatively, there’s a traditional arcade and indoor market on the seafront, too.

Day 4 Normanby Hall & Gardens

Day Three involves a short journey north to visit the Regency-style Normanby Hall and Gardens. Designed by Sir Robert Smirke in 1825, the mansion was home to the Sheffield family. Today, it features exhibits on the history of the Sheffields, the servants and staff who worked at the mansion, and the incredible role Normanby Hall played in both World Wars.

While Normanby Hall’s upper floor isn’t wheelchair accessible, digital media is available if you want to learn about all aspects of the house’s history. Outside, the gardens feature excellent accessible trails that wind through woodland areas, the Victorian walled garden, and the Rural Life Museum. We’ll also stop for lunch at the on-site Stableyard Café, which, when possible, serves dishes prepared with produce grown in the walled garden.

Day 5 Breakfast & Travel Home
Customer

Today, your Lovely Lincoln tour comes to an end. After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll board the accessible coach and depart for our various UK drop-off locations. Relax, reminisce with your fellow Limitless Travellers and take in the views. We’ll ensure you’re comfortable for the return journey and look forward to seeing you on your next Limitless holiday!

General FAQs

How do I book a UK coach holiday?

The first step in the booking process is speaking to a Limitless Travel Advisor on 0800 711 7112. While many Limitless Travellers contact us knowing exactly which coach holiday they want to book, many also call us for advice. We often help our travellers pick out the perfect holiday based on their needs and interests. So don’t hesitate to get in touch, even if you’re not sure which holiday to book yet.

When you’re ready to book, you’ll pay a deposit to confirm your place. The remainder of the balance is payable closer to the departure date. Flexible payment plans are available, allowing you to spread the cost of your holiday.

You will also discuss your holiday and needs with your Personal Travel Advisor to ensure you have the best possible care package and everything has been considered. Finally, the Limitless Care Team will contact you three months before departure to confirm you have all you need, are happy with arrangements, and are ready for your Limitless holiday.
